Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick has many themes, depending on the reader. In my opinion forbidden love between fallen angels and humans is the theme of this teen novel. When Nora Grey is partnered with Patch in biology, the sparks between them begin to fly. Nora is a serious and studious high school girl and Patch is the mysterious new transfer student. Though Nora is attracted to Patch physically, something about him warns her that he could be trouble. But the more Nora is around Patch the less she can resist his charms. The more she learns about Patch, the stranger things in her world become. She realizes Patch is not quite human but fallen. The question she must face is whether or not Patch is good. The events vary, sometimes even feeling realistic as her body reacts as if it really happened but, Patch would always be the one that will rescue Nora at the end. As I said, it turns out that Patch is a fallen angel, and in order to become human or return to heaven; Patch needs to kill or save a human body. Killing is easier, and Nora is the human Patch wants. Out of nowhere, Patch and Nora fall in love with each other, making Patch impossible to kill her. Just as Patch decides that he would forever stay a fallen angel, and stay by Nora’s side. Faith is not on their side. The body that Patch possesses every Hebrew month of Cheshvan to become human temporarily, Jules's, finally rises and seeks revenge. Jules sets up a terrible plan in which leads to torture Nora like the way Patch tortured him when his body was possessed. Meanwhile, Jules ends up dying, instead of Nora when they both fall to die within very close timing. But the angels in heaven saw the cruelty Jules withholds and kills him; making Patch the guardian angel of Nora. The two end up together.
